Bubble Gum That Caught the Burglar
There’s a piece of gum, sitting on the walk
In front of the bank, just down the block
It’s right in front of the stairs
It’s chewed up and gooey
Sticky and gluey
On one of the sidewalk squares
Then …
Without warning
That very morning
That bank was robbed by a crook
The crook robbed about
Then came running out
With all that money he took
Outside that bank he was running from
He stepped right on that bubble gum
…His robber shoe got caught
The gum knew something was wrong
So he held that shoe and he held on strong
Holding the crook in that spot
That little gum held his hold
Trying to run, the robber pulled
The gum would not let him
Gum was just too sticky, just too tough
It held that robber long enough
For the police to come and get him
A spit out piece of bubblegum
Is usually quite troublesome
But not every single time
Bubblegum was a hero that day
He stopped a crook from getting away
He was bubblegum fighting crime
